A Carbon Budget for North American Wetlands
I have also been extensively involved as the lead author of the wetlands chapter for the The First State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR): North American Carbon Budget and Implications for the Global Carbon Cycle (2007), published by the U.S. Climate Change Program. This was written for a general audience, with a large appendix containing the methodological details. We also published this assessment separately in a more standard format as the first in a new series of featured reviews in the journal Wetlands (Bridgham et al. 2006). This assessment involved not only a thorough review of the published literature, but also a significant amount of new analyses of national soil and carbon databases. It is also an important component of the overall North American carbon assessment, for which I am a co-author.
